Raleigh Stores Evacuated Due to Gas Leak

A west Raleigh supermarket is back open after a chemical leak forced an evacuation Saturday afternoon.

N.C. — A west Raleigh supermarket is back open after a chemical leak forced an evacuation Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters cleared out a Food Lion store and surrounding businesses on Western Boulevard about 2 p.m. after a suspected Freon leak was detected.

Fans were used to air the store out. All the stores in the strip mall reopened about 4 p.m.
