Garner Accident Causes Power Outages

Posted Updated

GARNER, N.C. — An accident in Garner knocked out power to more than 1,500 customers overnight.

Police say the driver was traveling on West Garner Road near Meadowbrook Drive about 12:45 a.m. when he lost control, hitting a utility pole guy wire.

That wire apparently snapped and hit the power line. The driver was not seriously hurt.

Police say alcohol was a factor, and that driver has been taken into custody.

Crews have since restored electricity to all customers.
