Broughton Foundation Receives $100,000 From Alumnus

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh high school is celebrating one of the largest gifts of its kind.

On Saturday, Needham B. Broughton High School alumnus Richard H. Jenrette gave $100,000 to the school's Needham B. Broughton Capital Foundation, which helps provide funding for proposals aimed at enriching the lives of current and future faculty and students.

The foundation, founded in the fall of 2004 by supporters of Broughton High School, also acts as a clearinghouse for members of the community who want to direct donations to specific programs or implement new initiatives.

Jenrette, a 1947 graduate of the Wake County high school, is a longtime benefactor of his alma mater. In recent years, his gifts have helped establish the Jenrette Teaching Excellence Award and provided enrichment opportunities for teachers.
