Raleigh Lakes Reopen After Sewage Spill

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Umstead State Park's lakes are now open to the public again after the city's biggest sewage spill in over two years.

Sycamore Lake and Big Lake reopened Friday after they were shut down when sewage poured from a manhole for more than a month before anyone noticed.

Crews pumped out sludge and sprayed fresh water in a contaminated creek.
