Soccer Dad Sentenced In Assault On Refs

CARY, N.C. — A soccer dad will have to perform 75 hours of community service and pay a fine after he was involved in an assault of referees last November.

Fred Meadows dumped water on three soccer referees after his son's team lost last year in the state soccer championships in Cary.

In a deal with prosecutors, Meadows will enter the First Offenders Program. He must complete 75 hours of community service, pay a $200 community service fee and pay $100 in court costs.

If Meadows meets these conditions within 6 months, the simple assault charges against him will be dismissed.
