Edgecombe Man Enters Alford Plea In Murder Case

Posted April 26, 2005

— An Edgecombe County man will spend at least 18 years in prison for the slaying of a promising high school football player.

Marvin Watkins was charged with killing T.K. Knight in 2002.

Watkins struck a deal with prosecutors Monday just as his trial was scheduled to begin.

Watkins entered an Alford plea, which means he accepted responsibility for the crime without admitting guilt.
