Orange County 911 Center To Get New Equipment

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Orange County's 911 center is getting a million-dollar makeover.

The county plans to buy new equipment for the communications center with grant money from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The current system is said to be so antiquated that many of its parts cannot be replaced because vendors no longer make them.

Grant money will go toward buying five new consoles and upgrading two call centers for use as dispatch stations.
