Meeker Wants To Protect Raleigh's Main Source For Drinking Water

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker wants to make sure people know where their drinking water comes from.

Raleigh and several surrounding towns get their water from Falls Lake. State officials said the lake is starting to show signs of degradation.

On Thursday, Meeker announced the formation of a land trust to acquire properties throughout the Falls Lake watershed.

The city council agreed to spend $10,000 to develop a plan.
