Angier Police Chief Says Recent Embezzlement Case A Reason For Quitting

Posted Updated

ANGIER, N.C. — Angier's police chief says he resigned from the position because he did not want to work for a town that hides criminal activity.

Earlier this week, Chief Anthony Poppler resigned from his position, effective next week.

At that time, Angier's town administrator said Poppler's resignation was not related to a recent embezzlement charge against an employee.

But Popper tells WRAL that he believes some town leaders knew about the missing money and did not tell law enforcement.
