Authorities said 16-year-old Usama Husein was found shot to death in a ditch by his driveway. He was getting ready for a spring break trip at Myrtle Beach, S.C.
"This was a case that has frustrated myself since the beginning of time," said Sgt. Jerry Winstead, of the Wake County Sheriff Office. "We've worked on it very hard as often as we can."
On the anniversary of the murder, Omar Husein, Usama's brother, came forward to publicly remind people about the case and the reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
"I'm pretty confident. I think, as time passes by, just because he was 16 at the time and a lot of his peers were young. Now that five years has passed, they've probably matured," Husein said.
Authorities believe Husein was killed out of revenge. Investigators would not elaborate, but they said Husein was involved in questionable activities and had assault charges pending against him.

Authorities said there is probably more than one suspect. Detectives feel the people responsible are in their early- to late-20s now.
The Sheriff's Office currently has 26 cold cases, one of which dates back to 1968.
