Man Struck And Killed By Train In Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. — An Amtrack train loaded with passengers struck and killed a man Sunday afternoon.

It happened off of South Blount Street in downtown Raleigh.

Investigators said the man was walking down the tracks with his back to the train.

The conductor said he blew the horn several times but the man did not respond.

He said he put on the brakes but could not stop in time.

Police have not been able to identify the victim.

The victim is described as a black male, possibly in his upper teens. He stood 5-foot-8 and weighed between 200 to 300 pounds.

He was wearing a black jacket with an orange liner, a camouflage baseball cap, a yellow T-shirt, and white tennis shoes.
