Johnston County Deputies Searching For Suspect In Shooting

SMITHFIELD, N.C. — A shooting in Johnston County sent one man to the hospital and another on the run Friday.

It happened off Highway 701, about 10 miles south of Smithfield.

Johnston County deputies said Corey McNeil shot another man twice with a shotgun -- once in the chest and once in the stomach. The victim was taken to the hospital.

Deputies said McNeil is on the run and described as a black male, who stands 5-foot-7 and weighs about 140 pounds.

He is believed to be carrying a shotgun.
