FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police arrested a man they say poured gas on a woman and held her and her son hostage.
Brook Birdow, 23, is charged with attempted murder and two counts of kidnapping. He's being held without bond.
Police say Donna Jeffrey called police early Sunday morning to say she and her son were being held by Birdow, who lived at the home.
Authorities say Birdow doused the woman with gas.
Both she and her son escaped the home with minor injuries when Birdow went to look for matches, police said.
