Police say a man shot a former girlfriend and then turned the gun on himself Thursday night in Hillsborough.

The woman was injured in the shooting, but is expected to live. The man killed himself, officers said.

Hillsborough police responded to a call of a shooting at 570 Dixie Ave. Thursday evening.

When they arrived found Tasha Renee Wardlow, 26, lying on the ground with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Wardlow told police that Clarence Junior Williams, 30, shot her. As officers talked to Wardlow, they received a call of person who was shot in a car about half a block away. Officers responding to the call of the second shooting located Williams slumped over in a vehicle in the travel lane on Harper Street.

Officers removed a handgun from his hand. Police said that the single gunshot wound suffered by Williams was self-inflicted. Wardlow is Williams' former girlfriend, police said.
