FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Authorities in Fayetteville have officially charged a suspect in connection with a deadly hit-and-run.
James Lance Campbell, 20, is accused of hitting Ashley Thompson with his vehicle early Saturday morning. Thompson died Sunday morning from injuries sustained in the accident.
After receiving an anonymous tip on March 7, officers located a silver Volkswagen with heavy damage matching the description of the car involved in the hit-and-run.
Campbell has been charged with felony hit-and-run and involuntary manslaughter.
Campbell is at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond.
