RALEIGH, N.C. — It took hours for crews to move a train that jumped the tracks in Raleigh.
It happened just before 10 a.m. Wednesday off Hillsborough Street near the Beltline. The train, which had three cars derail, was a "ballast" train, which means it was a working train carrying supplies to work on the tracks in Raleigh.
The derailment forced police to close the intersection at Hillsborough Street and Beryl Road. The accident could also affect passenger trains that use the rails.
There no word yet on what caused the cars to leave the track.
CSX officials said it normally takes three to five days to determine the cause of the derailment, which includes investigating the tracks, the train and the operating procedures.
There were no injuries involved in this incident.
