DURHAM, N.C. — An antique fire bell is back where it belongs.
Thieves stole the bell off an old pumper in Durham in November. On Tuesday, firefighters at fire station No. 6 found a cardboard box outside with the bell inside.
Investigators believe a collector or fire buff might have swiped it, but they do not have any suspects.
The antique bell may be restored and displayed in the American Tobacco complex.
