Two Roxboro Teachers Suspended; Police To Investigate
Posted March 4, 2005
ROXBORO, N.C. — Two teachers in Roxboro have been suspended from their jobs with pay, pending an investigation.
According to school superintendent Ronnie Bugnar, the suspensions affect eighth-grade social studies teacher Stephen Dunevant and PE teacher Kitty Horton. Both are teachers at Southern Middle School.
Bugnar would not comment about the nature of the investigation, but he said the teachers were suspended, based on information that surfaced last week.
Dunevant, who was suspended last Friday, has been with the school for six years. Horton was suspended Thursday. She has been with the school for more than 30 years.
Bugnar has asked Roxboro police to investigate the cases. He said he may be able to comment about the cases sometime next week.
Bugnar also said he does not expect other teachers to be suspended as a result of the investigation. WRAL was able to talk to Dunevant, but he declined to comment about the case. WRAL was unable to reach Horton.
