APEX, N.C. — Apex is on the cutting edge of commercial development, but not everyone is happy about it.

There is more than a million square feet of new retail space near the proposed Interstate 540 interchange at Highway 64. Now, developers want to build a Wal-Mart just down the road.

Developers met with local residents in a closed-door meeting Thursday night at the Chamber of Commerce to address their concerns.

Many who attended said they worry the development will compromise their quality of life.
