Despite Vaccine Shortage, Flu Season Not As Severe As Last Year

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina could be on the downside of flu season.

State health officials say we're at or near the peak of the season.

Last year, 12 small children in North Carolina died from the flu.

This year there are no reported infant deaths.

The total number of cases reported is not as many as last year, even though there were alarms last fall when there was a shortage of the vaccine.

But clinics in every county reported seeing patients with flu-like symptoms.
