HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. — How far would you go over to win a dispute over paint? A Harnett County woman is suing a store over the issue.
When Home Building Center held a drawing for free paint, Ann Johnson won, but she thought she should be able to pick whichever paint she wants.
The store said she can only have interior paint. The total price difference would be $32.
The case went from small claims court to district court, then to the state Court of Appeals. That court said the district court judge did not explain his decision well and has to redo it. The case is now back at the district court level.
Both sides plan to keep fighting as a matter of principle.
