Woodcroft Fire
DURHAM, N.C. — Everyone was able to get out alive after a fire at a home in Durham Wednesday morning.

The house was located on Winterberry Ridge Drive. A woman suffered minor burns. Seven children, ranging in ages from 9 months to 10 years old, were in the house at the time. They were treated for smoke inhalation.

Most damage from the fire was contained to a first-floor bedroom area.

Neighbors say just before 9 a.m. Wednesday they heard calls for help, followed by chaos.

"She just threw on a blanket, trying to get the kids out of the house," said Bethany Osborne, a neighbor. "That was all she cared about was getting her kids out."

Investigators say that at this point, there is no obvious sign of what started the fire. Neighbors told WRAL the woman has only five children so it is not clear if the other two are relatives or perhaps children of friends.
