FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — A cluster of convenience stores in Fuquay-Varina is involved in a gas price war.
Sheetz, located at North Main Street in Fuquay-Varina, is offering gas at $1.57 per gallon for regular unleaded. As a result, a Kangaroo gas station located across the street is offering its gas at $1.57.
Customers said they are glad to see the gas price war.
"I live in north Raleigh and it runs at $1.91, so I would come down here for that price," said one customer.
North Carolina law blocks gas retailers from selling too far below cost. If you are keeping up with a competitor, you are not in violation.
According to AAA Carolinas, the average price for gas in the Triangle is $1.87.
