FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fire officials in Fayetteville have not been able to determine the cause of an early-morning blaze that destroyed an abandoned warehouse.
The fire that started around 2 a.m. at the old Quality Mill completely destroyed the football field-sized building, officials said.
"You could see the flames from about two miles down the road, and it was flowing up when they got there," witness Cecil Phipps said.
There were no injuries from the fire, although part of the roof fell in during the blaze.
The old Quality Mill warehouse, located in the 700 block of Quality Road, had been abandoned for several years, fire officials said.
Firefighters are still trying to extinguish some of the hot spots at the scene.
Officials have not been able to determine the cause for the fire. Plus, they are worried about some of the outer walls of the building collapsing.
