PITTSBORO, N.C. — Even though a lot of people pay bills online, most people still depend on the mail for those monthly statements. People also depend on the postal service to get their payments there on time, but the mail is a mystery in one neighborhood.

Lindsay Addison is tired of trying to figure out why her incoming mail does not get delivered to the right address or why mail she sends out does not get to its intended recipients.

Four envelopes were marked "Wrong Address." The mail all went to Lyndsey Addison's neighbor, who then delivered it to Addison.

"It's bad. It's really bad," she said.

Addison said she and her neighbors have had mail problems for months.

"I was delivered a Priority Mail package -- a Priority Mail package that was delivered to someone else's address," she said.

The problem really came to a head in December when she discovered a mortgage payment she sent, never arrived. She and her neighbors repeatedly complained to the Pittsboro Post Office. Addison also wrote to the Greensboro complaint office, but she did not get a response.

"It's very frustrating and it's upsetting that no one cares at the post office to take action," Addison said.

Addison called Five on Your Side, who called the U.S. Postal Service.

"Our job is to deliver the mail. That's what we want to do, so we'll do everything we can do to make sure everybody gets their mail every single day," spokesman Bill Brown said.

Brown apologized and has the Pittsboro Postmaster tracking the problem.

"We're now logging every piece of mail that comes into her," he said.

That way, the postal service can track what or who is causing the problem. In the meantime, she now takes care of many of her bills online to ensure they get to the right people, at the right address.

Brown wants all of Addison's neighbors who are having problems to let the Pittsboro postmaster know, even if they already have in the past. He said their mail can be tracked as well.
