DURHAM, N.C. — There is encouraging news Tuesday for a man mistakenly declared dead.
Doctors say Larry Donnell Green is improving -- they upgraded his condition to serious from critical.
A car hit Green in January as he walked along Highway 401 in Franklin County.
Two paramedics declared him dead and sent him to the morgue. After two hours without receiving care, the coroner later realized that Green was breathing and called paramedics back, who took him to the hospital.
The state suspended the paramedics' licenses and the county fired them.
