ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — A woman was killed when her car ran off the road in Halifax County Monday morning.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol reported that a Honda Passport crashed into telephone pole along Sam Powell Dairy Road, off Highway 48, south of Roanoke Rapids at 9 a.m.
The female driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle as it overturned.
She was dead at scene, the highway patrol said. Authorities also reported finding marijuana and a marijuana pipe in vehicle.
The woman's identity has not been released.
