RALEIGH, N.C. — A woman charged with poisoning her husband with arsenic will finally have her day in court next year. On Thursday, a judge set Ann Miller Kontz's trial date for Jan. 16.
Miller Kontz is charged with murdering her husband, pediatric AIDS researcher Eric Miller, in December 2000. Miller's family attended Thursday's hearing in a Wake County courtroom.
Miller Kontz's attorneys are trying to get their client out of the Wake County Jail. They said there is no room to meet with her and adequately prepare for trial while she is there.
Her attorneys are also trying to reduce her $3 million bond.
