SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. — Emotions ran high at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Wednesday as a large group returned from war.

Nearly 300 airmen flew home by commercial jet. The troops spent the last five months in southwest Asia, flying daily missions over Iraq.

Their deployment was extended by a month to help with the Iraqi elections.

Airmen from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base helped troops on the ground fight insurgents and secure polling sites on Election Day.
