RALEIGH, N.C. — A truck knocked debris onto Interstate 40 Monday morning, causing severe traffic problems for commuters headed into Raleigh.
The wreck happened around 6:15 a.m. on westbound I-40 near the Raleigh beltline as a flatbed truck's tarp flew up and caught an overhead sign, knocking it down and blocking traffic.
Traffic was backed up past Highway 70 and caused problems on that road where it connected with I-40.
There were several small wrecks reported on I-40 in the back-up.
Crews managed to clear the scene around 7 a.m. and traffic was flowing throughout all the areas by 7:30 a.m.
