BUNN, N.C. — A popular Franklin county athlete is gone but not forgotten.
Marc Philippeaux was shot and killed two weeks ago while attending a weekend party. The star center for the Bunn basketball team was named Mr. Bunn High School -- this year's homecoming king.
The team has dedicated the rest of the basketball season to his memory.
"I know I got to move on sometime, but it's hard. I don't know. It's hard," teammate Mossette Heath said.
"[I'm] just kind of missing him being in the back of the line when we come out for a game, his smile, his singing," teammate Bryan Bridges said.
The school plans to retire Philippeaux's jersey later this year. The students have also set up a scholarship fund in his name.
