A Granville County family is pulling together after a fire destroyed their home in Creedmoor.

For Vivian Dickerson, the fire is another in a series of tragedies for her in recent years. She lost her husband to cancer and lost her daughter to an accident. She lived at the home with her daughter, her son-in-law and their three children. Two other grandchildren also lived with Dickerson.

"I'll just leave it in the Lord's hands. It's all I can do. That's what keeps me going," Vivian said.

"She is not in good health, good shape. [The home] was the only thing she had left," said Dawn Dickerson, Vivian's daughter.

Authorities believe a furnace was the cause of the fire. Three children, who were there at the time of the fire, were able to escape the burning home, but the person who rescued them may lose his hand due to his injuries.

The Red Cross is putting the family up in a motel. Anyone wishing to send donations to help the family can go to any CCB bank in Creedmoor.
