Man sought in Burger King attack, attempted robbery

Posted September 6, 2012

— Raleigh police are looking for a man who attacked a Burger King employee during an attempted robbery last month.

Investigators say the would-be robber entered the restaurant, at 3701 Hillsborough St., shortly before 10 p.m. on Aug. 22 and struck one of two employees with a handgun.

While leaving, police say, the man shot at the employee. No one was injured.

Investigators are looking for a white man of Hispanic ethnicity, who stands about 6 feet 2 inches tall and has a thin build.

Surveillance photos show him wearing a curly, black wig, dark "skinny" jeans, black sneakers and a white shirt under a black zip-up windbreaker jacket.

Police believe he might have fled the scene on a black bicycle.

Anyone with information about the robbery or who might recognize the man in the photos is asked to contact Raleigh Crime Stoppers at 919-834-4357 or to report a tip at the Crime Stoppers website, http://www.raleighcrimestoppers.org.

Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for anonymous tips that help solve cases.

Just robbing the Burger Kings that Americans won't rob.

Curious as to why this crime is not identified as being in Raleigh? I have no doubts that had it occurred in Durham that wral would have put that information in the headline.

I've been to this BK many times. The people that work there are the friendliest and most professional people I've experienced at any fast-food restaurant (or anywhere else, for that matter). I hope they're all OK and this "man" is caught.
