RALEIGH, N.C. — The driver of a propane tanker that overturned Monday afternoon will not face charges in the wreck.
Gary Cunningham was taken to WakeMed after the truck flipped over on its side. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the wreck that happened around 5 p.m.
An eyewitness said the truck ran off the road and in an effort to maintain control, the driver jerked the tanker back left and crossed the center line. The tanker then flipped.
The wreck happened on Ebenezer Church Road near Umstead State Park in Raleigh. Cunningham was pinned in the truck before EMS arrived.
No other cars were involved.
There was a small leak in the tanker, but no immediate threat to homes in the area.
