ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — Authorities say speeding and alcohol played a role in a deadly head-on collision in Roanoke Rapids.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol says that 20-year-old Stephen Jones crossed the center line on Fifth Street, and collided with another vehicle around 7 a.m. Saturday
Jones was critically injured.
The passenger in the other car, 56-year-old Gladys Green, was killed. Her son Derrik was hurt, but is expected to survive.
