WRAL is helping an area high school marching band go the presidential inaugural parade.

West Johnston High School

needed $7,000 to make the trip to Washington for President George W. Bush's inauguration later this month.

WRAL airlifted

Meteorologist Greg Fishel

to the school's football field to present the $7,000 check to the school's band director and 128-member band at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

After the presentation, Fishel performed with the band on a tuba.

The band needed $7,000 to reach its goal of $42,000 for the historic trip.

The school's Army JROTC is also going on the trip to be the honor guard for the group.
