HALIFAX COUNTY, N.C. — Investigators in Halifax County called off the search for a man missing in Roanoke Rapids Lake.
On Dec. 27, Clinton Harmon Jr. was in the car with two others when the driver made a wrong turn. The car went off a boat ramp into Roanoke Rapids Lake.
On Monday, cadaver dogs were brought in to assist with the search.
"Human eyesight can only see as far as there are no obstructions. A dog that is well-trained in searching for victims can smell that scent for a great distance," said Gordan Deno, director of Wilson County Emergency Management.
On Sunday, about 50 divers worked the areas in and near Roanoke Rapids lake. On Saturday, divers found 14-year-old Damian Hawkins of Roanoke Rapids.
A third person in the car, Jermaine Whitaker, made it out alive.
