RALEIGH, N.C. — The Asian tsunami disaster will be a massive undertaking for relief groups.
Stop Hunger Now
met with the Thai Embassy Thursday to make sure efforts are not duplicated.
"With the amount of devastation, it's absolutely essential that we all communicate as clearly as possible. This meeting with the Thai embassy is essential for doing a good job making sure everything is done effectively," said Rev. Ray Buchanan, of Stop Hunger Now.
Triangle-area businesses are also coordinating efforts. Counter Culture Coffee Roaster and several local coffee shops are donating proceeds to coffee growers in Sumatra.
Galaxy Cinema in Cary, N.C. also donated 100 percent of its proceeds from ticket sales Thursday night to the Red Cross.
