RALEIGH, N.C. — Christmas is over, but there is one thing that is still lingering -- trash.

Wake County does have a holiday wrap-up program at five of its citizen convenience centers.

You can drop off empty cardboard boxes, shirt boxes, wrapping paper and Christmas cards. Those items can all be recycled.

Trash pick-up in the Triangle will be on a regular schedule over the New Year's holiday. However, big changes in the garbage schedule start in Durham Monday.

The city will move to a same-day schedule, which means garbage, recycling and yard waste will all be picked up on the same day.

The city will run extra routes next week, as everyone adjusts to the new schedule.
