Two Involved In Phipps Scandal To Gain Freedom In 2005

The new year will bring new freedom to two players in the Meg Scott Phipps state Agriculture Department scandal.

Deputy Agriculture Commissioner Mike Blanton is now in Raleigh in a halfway house. He was in a federal prison in Virginia. Blanton's release is scheduled for Jan. 14.

Bobby McLamb, another player in the scandal, will also go free on the same day. WRAL has learned that he is at a halfway house in Fayetteville.
