RALEIGH, N.C. — WRAL lost a dear friend over the weekend.
Bette Elliott was WRAL's award-winning editor of women's news. She died Sunday after a bout with pneumonia.
For years, Elliott hosted the popular program "Femme Fare" every morning at 10.
The program was a fixture on the Channel 5 lineup from 1962 until 1975.
"Femme Fare" started out as a simple cooking show, but later blossomed into a program WRAL labeled its "Magazine of the Air for the Modern Woman."
Elliott was 83 years old.
