ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Rocky Mount police arrested a mother and stepfather in connection with the death of their young child.
Warria Stephens, 28, and 22-year-old Charlie Stephens Jr. are charged with murdering 4-year-old Nazareth King.
Police say the child was beaten severely and died from stomach and head injuries.
Hospital staff called police after someone brought the child in. The couple is being held without bond.
