Cardinal Gibbons students injured in collision
Three Cardinal Gibbons High School students were among those injured late Friday morning in a collision involving a bread truck.
Posted — UpdatedThe crash happened about 11:40 a.m.at the intersection of Chapel Hill and Trinity roads near the school.
Cardinal Gibbons Principal Jason Curtis said the students were on their way back to the nearby Raleigh campus from lunch when the wreck, involving two vehicles and a Nature's Own bread truck, occurred.
Curtis said one of the student's conditions is critical, and two others are in the intensive care unit.
Cary police said five people were involved in the wreck, They had not released any other details about those involved or what might have happened as of Friday evening.
But the wreck has shaken the Cardinal Gibbons community. Friday was the second day of the new school year.
"Obviously, we're all very, very concerned. We're a really strong community," Curtis said. "As a Catholic school, this is an opportunity for us to pray together, to be concerned together and also take care of each other."
