— Police canvassed a Raleigh neighborhood Thursday looking for information about a shooting that injured a 4-year-old boy in his bedroom Wednesday night.

Investigators said someone fired gunshots outside a home at 2423 Melvid Court around 11:30 p.m. and that bullets went flying into the upstairs bedrooms of two apartments.

The bullet grazed the boy's lip, police said, but he was not seriously injured.

No one was in the room in the other apartment.

Investigators spent Thursday morning questioning neighbors for leads and passing out fliers in the neighborhood.

Anyone with information should call Raleigh Crime Stoppers at 919-834-4357 or visit Raleigh Crime Stoppers' website. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for anonymous tips that help solve cases.

Just where do you think those thousands of illegal six guns come from? There are few if any "illegal gun" shops. Not at all. Those illegal guns were once legal guns that have fallen into the wrong hands. mostly because the people that buy guns can not keep possession of them. They are stolen in burglaries, lost one way or another or taken from six gun packing Yahoos in muggings. Their protective value is nil but they are a rich source of firepower for criminals. - piene2

Could you be any less educated about guns?!? The guns get into criminal's hands when they intercept shipments, or break into gun shops and steal their inventory. Thankfully the 2nd Amendment protects gun owners from the likes of you who would like to blame the law-abiding & responsible gun owners for the actions of criminals...because somehow only the criminals having guns makes us all safer. Riiiiiiight.

piene2....again you know not what you speak about. Most guns are stolen from gunshops during crash and grabs. But you solution would be to take my weapon from me and allow the criminals to have theirs. No thanks.....going to keep mine and being that I know how to use it very very well I think the chances of a loser like the one that shot this kid getting hold of it is very unlikely. More likely they will ahve another dead criminal and with that will be people like you saying I should not have the right to defend myself. I fully intend to defend my family but if you don't want to that's your choice. maybe you can reason with the guy just before he rapes or kills someone you love.

Yes but the shootings that are accuring are not by legal gun owners but people that shouldn't have these weapons in the first place. So why don't we take all the guns from legal owners and that will stop the shootings. Yes and it's the guns fault.....it was an evil gun and was out to do no good. Why don't you left wing nit wits go walk the streets in North/east or Downtown Raleigh at night. Don't go armed and see if you still think that owning a gun and owning it legally is the problem in this country or is the fact that criminals and t--gs are the ones doing the shooting. I also will add that most of the shooting is taking place in black neighborhoods and not in white......and it's not whites doing the shooting it's black and they are shooting each other. Why doesn't Rev. Al speak up about that or why doesn't the head of the NAACP quit working on the schools and start trying to stop the violence in his town. I'll tell you why because there is no media attention in it....that's wh

And yet another Raleigh shooting this month and unfortunately a innocent toddler took the brunt of it. Shootings in Raleigh are really jumping up at an alarming rate. In fact they are rising everywhere lately at an alarming rate.

"Piene, I have asked before and gotten no response: what credentials can you offer as a basis for your comments about firearms and the people who use them? Other posters present facts and experience, you post innuendo and name-calling. Why?
    TimeWillTell"

Sow many stories must you read about shooting sprees, accidental shootings, domestic murders, murder suicides, collateral killings and so on before it sinks into your head that the nation is becoming saturated with guns and all too many people anxious to use them? Or are you going to continue to bury your head in the sand and pretend it is not happening?

I don't know that I would say this little boy is "OK". He's not dead, anyway. If it were my son that was shot while he slept in his bed, I would definitely not call that OK. Poor kid; heckofa thing to have to experience at age 4, or any age, for that matter.
