Child abuse charge dismissed against day care worker

print friendly

A misdemeanor child abuse charge was dismissed against a woman who worked at a Franklin County day care that closed last month amid a state probe into allegations of child abuse.

WRAL News reported on Aug. 8 that the owners of Leaps and Bounds Early Learning Center in Louisburg closed the facility prior to the state revoking their license.

A July 18 letter to co-owner Diane Lee from the North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education cited a March 2012 complaint against Cynthia Brubaker, 42, of Zebulon, who was accused of improperly disciplining an 18-month-old child.

A District Court judge, however, dismissed the charge on June 4, according to court documents.

Brubaker is also licensed and qualified to provide child care, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services' Criminal Record Check Unit.

The cameras in the center proved there was no abuse! When the one "witness" testified the judge did not even give the defendant a chance to testify. The story the "witness" gave in court was so far fetch people in the court were snickering, laughing, mouths dropping at how outrages her story sounded.

Charges dismissed...does not mean that you are found innocent

It is a sad day for Cynthia Brubaker, no daycare will hire her, because her name is associated with child abuse. She is qualified and has all her paperwork in order, but that is not enough, society has labeled her. The only good thing that has come out of this is my commitment and bond has gotten stronger. I LOVE MY WIFE CYNTHIA BRUBAKER. We have been knocked down but we will not stay down. Thank you jwpirate and monkeyface. This is my last comment. We are going to put this behind us!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if Amanda Lamb will report this on WRAL tv? Come on WRAL, your lack of reporting the complete story really bothers me! This is local and you have ruined a persons career!

My kids love Cynthia Brubaker.......
