RALEIGH, N.C. — Some potential law enforcement officers did not get to start work Monday as planned.
Would-be officers in Wake and Buncombe counties failed a new pilot test in basic law enforcement given by the state last week at Wake Technical Community College.
"It's just devastating to them, but it was also devastating to the instructors in the program and devastating to the coordinators who put a lot of heart and soul into the program as well," said law enforcement instructor Tommy Edwards.
The state has pulled the test and is re-evaluating the questions. The test scores will not count against the officers.
The officers can take the original test -- the one they studied for -- on Thursday. Until then, they cannot be sworn in as officers.
