Herald-Sun Sold To Kentucky-Based Group

DURHAM, N.C. — After more than 100 years under the leadership of the same family, the

Herald-Sun

is about to get a new owner.

The newspaper is being sold to the Paxton Media Group, a family-owned newspaper company based in Kentucky.

Paxton also owns other North Carolina papers, including the

Sanford Herald

.

The newspaper has been a part of Durham since 1889. The transfer of ownership is expected to take effect early next year.
