Plans For Liggett-Myers Project Closer To Being Reality

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham renovation project is closer to becoming a reality. Developers want to turn the old Liggett-Myers tobacco complex into shops, apartments and offices.

Developers with Blue Devil Ventures have reached a tentative agreement in which the city would pay up to $7 million in cash incentives and street improvements.

Down the street, the

American Tobacco campus

has also undergone a major transformation. The project is being developed by WRAL's parent company, Capitol Broadcasting.

If the City Council approves the deal for the Liggett-Myers project, developers could break ground in the spring.
