Authorities in Chatham County believe they found the body of a Durham man accused of shooting his daughter's grandparents.

The body, believed to be Brian Keith Marshall, was found in his car in a wooded area off Highway 64 in Pittsboro at about 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators said it appears the man committed suicide.

A shotgun was found inside the vehicle and is believed to be the same weapon used in the shootings, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The vehicle, a white 1991 Honda CRX was registered to Marshall's wife and was positively identified at the scene.

Investigators believe the body has been deceased for several weeks and will wait for a positive identification with dental records from the State Medical Examiners Office in Chapel Hill.

Investigators said Marshall burst into Richard Kelly's home on Oct. 27 November and opened fire. Kelly was killed and his wife, Melody, was critically injured.

The Kelly's have custody of Marshall's 3-year-old daughter.
