Water Heaters To Blame For Kinston Hotel Evacuation

KINSTON, N.C. — Malfunctioning water heaters caused quite a commotion in Kinston over the weekend.

Employees at the Hampton Inn called police Saturday night to report gunshots.

Officers evacuated the hotel, put others in the area on lockdown and shut down part of Highway 70.

A public safety official said the sound came from faulty burners on water heaters at the hotel.
